Ellen Cranitch was born in London of Irish parents. Her poetry has been widely published in magazines and periodicals and won many awards including in The Troubadour International competition, the Poetry London competition and the South Bank Poetry competition. She has worked as an arts journalist for The Times and The Independent and as a drama script editor at ITV. She holds an MA in English Literature from Cambridge University and a PhD in Poetics from the University of St Andrews where she also taught. She divides her time between London and Kerry.
