Crossing into Tamil Nadu is based on a journey Mara Bergman made with her daughter in India, with the loose narrative taking a dramatic turn in the title poem. Mara works in London as a fiction editor and is the author of more than twenty books for young children. She lives in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.
Mara Bergman grew up in New York, and her poetry has been published widely here and abroad. Her first collection, The Tailor’s Three Sons and Other New York Poems, won the Mslexia Poetry Pamphlet Competition and was published by Seren in 2015.
Crossing into Tamil Nadu was launched at the Keats House Templar Readings
on Tuesday 31st May.
