Beetle is the story of a group of friends caught up in the Bosnian civil war, tracing their hopes, fears, love affairs and rivalries through the course of a conflict that changes their lives forever.
The collection is a personal and philosophical examination of the choices people make when caught up in conflict, and how wars shape – and are shaped by – those caught up in them.
Matthew Henley was born in Essex, and educated at the University of York, UK and Simon Fraser University, Canada. He has worked in the Balkans and South Asia. This is his first collection of poetry.
