Michael Woods launched  Absence Notes, his first collection, at the Lamb & Flag Public House in the City of Worcester on the evening of 7th December 2011. 

Michael Woods was born in London. He is married with three children and teaches English and Drama in Malvern, Worcestershire. His poems have won several prizes and have appeared in a  number of anthologies, including those produced by Templar Poetry. He has researched the poetry of Gerard Manley Hopkins and  is an annual participant and lecturer at the Gerard Manley Hopkins Conference in Ireland. As editor of Tandem poetry magazine, he has sought to promote the work of young writers.

The Poet Laureate, Carol Ann Duffy, describes Michael Woods' poetry as ‘concerned with texture, tenderness and the toughness of experience, with a fresh eye for the passions and eccentricities concealed behind our front doors.’
